  1. This is a notice of a public ruling made under section 91D of the Tax Administration Act 1994.

  2. Public Ruling No. 98/8 entitled “Trading stock — tax treatment of disposals” will appear in Inland Revenue’s Tax Information Bulletin, Vol. 11, No. 1 of January 1999.

Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977

Permission to Conduct Within New Zealand a Lottery Promoted Outside New Zealand

Pursuant to section 69 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977, I Jack Elder, Minister of Internal Affairs, hereby permit Corys & Frasers Electrical Wholesalers, to conduct within New Zealand, subject to the conditions specified in the Schedule to this notice, a lottery promoted outside New Zealand as a sales promotion scheme, to promote the sale of the electrical products.

Conditions

The permission given by this notice is subject to the following conditions, namely:

(1) Corys & Frasers Electrical Wholesalers shall not conduct the sales promotion scheme in New Zealand after 30 June 1999;

(2) The results of the sales promotion scheme shall be published in the Sunday Star Times on 21 February 1999 and then every third Sunday of each month until the final publication on the 25 July 1999;

(3) Winners will be notified by certified mail;

(4) New Zealand winners shall not be subject to any extra cost when they claim their prizes;

(5) The chance of a New Zealand participant winning a prize shall be equal to that of an overseas participant.

Lake Taupo Regulations 1976

Reserved Area of Lake Taupo Waters Notice 1998

Pursuant to regulation 25 (1) (a) of the Lake Taupo Regulations 1976, the Secretary for Local Government gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Reserved Area of Lake Taupo Waters Notice 1998.

  2. Reserved Bathing Area Notified—(1) The area of Lake Taupo waters situated south/west of the Lake Taupo Landing Reserve within lines running 120 degrees (true) from the public jetty and 033 degrees (true) from the outer flashing green channel marker.

(2) Nothing in this clause has the effect of excluding any person entering the reserved area to render assistance in case of accident or emergency.

(3) This notice comes into effect on the day after its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.
