Acting Clerk of the Writs Appointed

Pursuant to the Electoral Act 1993, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government has been pleased to appoint

Genevieve Margaret Jordan, c.v.o., of Wellington

to be Acting Clerk of the Writs for the period of 10 June 1998 to 3 July 1998, inclusive and from 8 July 1998 to 17 July 1998, inclusive in the absence of Roger William George Blakeley, Clerk of the Writs and Angela Irmgard Hauk-Willis, Deputy Clerk of the Writs.

Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977

Permission to Conduct Within New Zealand a Lottery Promoted Outside New Zealand

Pursuant to section 69 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977, I, Jack Elder, Minister of Internal Affairs, hereby permit Hyatt International Hotels, to conduct within New Zealand, subject to the conditions specified in the Schedule to this notice, a lottery promoted outside New Zealand as a sales promotion scheme, to promote the sale of low season hotel bookings at Hyatt hotels in Australia and New Zealand.

Conditions

The permission given by this notice is subject to the following conditions, namely:

(1) Hyatt International Hotels Limited, shall not conduct the sales promotion scheme in New Zealand after 31 August 1998;

(2) The results of the sales promotion scheme shall be published in the December 1998 issue of the Qantas Frequent Flyer newsletter;

Winners will be notified by certified mail;

(3) New Zealand winners shall not be subject to any extra cost when they claim their prizes;

(4) The chance of a New Zealand participant winning a prize shall be equal to that of an overseas participant.

District Courts Act 1947

Acting District Court Judge Appointed

Pursuant to section 10A of the District Courts Act 1947, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government has been pleased to appoint

Ronald James Gilbert, retired District Court Judge

to be an Acting District Court Judge, to exercise civil and criminal jurisdiction in New Zealand, and to exercise the criminal jurisdiction of the District Courts under Part IIA of the District Courts Act 1947, at such place or places and for such period or periods only as the Chief District Court Judge may fix, pursuant to the said section 10A of the District Courts Act 1947, for a term of 12 months, on and from the 24th day of June 1998.
