16 001 b,n,h Objection S Russell. (See General 002 for details on this objector’s overall strategy for electorate changes).

Objections to the inclusion of all the land south and west of Pakuranga Stream, Pigeon Mountain Road, Fortunes Road, Butley Drive, the eastern boundary of Wakaaranga School and Wakaaranga Creek being included in the proposed Pakuranga Electorate on the grounds of facilities of communication and projected changes in population in the South Auckland area.

Suggested solution Transfer this area to a new Otahuhu Electorate.

Objects to the name of the proposed Pakuranga Electorate on the grounds that other changes would remove a large part of Pakuranga and add parts of Howick.

Suggested solution Change name of electorate to Howick.

17 Manukau East

17 001 b Objection D S Newman

Objects to the inclusion of Waimate Street, Piako Street and Preston Road through to Flat Bush Road in the proposed electorate of Manukau East on the grounds that the area’s community of interest is with the Flatbush community in the proposed Manurewa Electorate.

Suggested solution To maintain existing community interests by re-establishing the existing electoral boundary to include the above area in the proposed Manurewa Electorate.

17 002 n Objection J Simpson

Objects to the proposed name of Manukau East on the grounds there is a more appropriate option.

Suggested solution To call the proposed electorate Somerville in keeping with the facilities in the area.

17 003 b Objection C B & B J B Brown

Objects to the inclusion of the part of Puhinui on the southern side of Puhinui Road between the railway line and Norman Spencer Drive being included in the proposed Manukau East Electorate on the grounds the community of interest that exists is between the Puhinui Road area and the rest of the Manurewa Electorate.

Suggested solution To include the area in the proposed Manurewa Electorate.
