Clause 9.1 (a) is amended by omitting the expression "$23.56", and substituting the expression "$23.76".

Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the welfare programme but is intended to indicate its general effect.
These amendments, approved by the Minister of Social Welfare under section 124 (1) (d) of the Social Security Act 1964, amend the welfare programme approved by the Minister on 27 March 1996 relating to training incentive allowance programmes.
Clauses 1 to 4 increase the rates of training incentive allowance by 0.83 per cent.
The increases in training incentive allowance come into force on 1 April 1998.
Amendment to the Childcare Subsidy Welfare Programme
Pursuant to section 124 (1) (d) of the Social Security Act 1964, I, Roger Morrison Sowry, Minister of Social Welfare, approve the following amendments to the Childcare Subsidy welfare programme (as originally approved on 27 March 1996, and approved by me on 23 December 1996), which are to be considered part of the programme with effect on and from 1 April 1998.

These amendments, approved by the Minister of Social Welfare under section 124 (1) (d) of the Social Security Act 1964, amend the welfare programme approved by the Minister on 27 March 1996 relating to childcare subsidy programmes.
Clauses 1 to 3 increase the rates of childcare subsidies, which come into force on 1 April 1998.

Pursuant to section 5 (2) of the Social Security Act 1964, I, Roger Morrison Sowry, Minister of Social Welfare, direct that on or after the 1 April 1998, the amendments set out in the Schedule of this direction are to be read together with and deemed part of the direction dated 14 April 1997 that I gave to you in relation to grants of special benefit in place of the Schedule set out in that direction.

For a person in receipt of a widowβs benefit, or a domestic purposes benefit under section 27B of the Act (sole parent) or a domestic purposes benefit under section 27C of the Act (woman alone), and who has:
(a) No dependent children: | $92.78
