Maori Affairs Restructuring Act 1989

Maori Land Development Notice

Pursuant to section 21 of the Maori Affairs Restructuring Act 1989, the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Maori Development hereby gives notice as follows:

N o t i c e

  1. This notice may be cited as Maori Land Development Notice Rotorua 1998, No. 9.

  2. The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette, 15 October 1998, No. 172, page 4131, and described as Maori Land Development Notice Rotorua 1998 No. 8, is hereby cancelled, and replaced to the extent necessary with this notice.

  3. The notice referred to in the First Schedule hereto is, in relation only to the piece of land described in the Second Schedule hereto, hereby revoked.

  4. The land described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby released from the provisions of Part II of the Maori Affairs Restructuring Act 1989.

New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946

Notice of the Decision of the Minister of Food, Fibre, Biosecurity and Border Control re. the Assigning of Place Names

Pursuant to section 12 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice was given on the 12 June 1997 of the intention of the New Zealand Geographic Board to change the names of Orakei-Korako to Orakei Korako and White Island (Whakaari) to Whakaari/White Island. Orakei Korako is located on the banks of the Waikato River, near Lake Ohakuri. Whakaari/White Island is an island in the Bay of Plenty.

Objections were received to these proposed name changes and were dealt with pursuant to section 13 of the said Act.

I hereby declare that it is my decision that the names of these features shall be Orakei Korako and Whakaari/White Island and that this decision shall take effect on the 10 December 1998.

South Auckland Land District

Orakei Korako Locality on the Waikato River near Lake Ohakuri. Topographic map 260 U17 Wairakei, GR 844985. Change from Orakei-Korako.
Whakaari/White Island Island in the Bay of Plenty. Topographic map 260 W15 & W13/14 Whakatane, GR 800005 (W13/14), change from White Island (Whakaari).

Notice of Final Decision to Assign Place Name

Pursuant to section 15 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice is hereby given of the final decision of the New Zealand Geographic Board to assign the name stated in the first column of the Schedule below, to the place described in the second column of the said Schedule and that such decision shall take effect on 7 October 1998.

Canterbury Land District

Pursuant to section 12 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice is hereby given of the intention of the New Zealand Geographic Board to assign the altered or new names stated in the first column of the Schedule below, to the respective places described in the second column of the Schedule.

Objection to the proposed names may be given in writing, setting out the grounds for objection, to the Secretary of the New Zealand Geographic Board, care of Land Information New Zealand, Private Box 5501, Wellington, within a period of 3 months from the date of the New Zealand Gazette containing this notice.
