Summary of Exemptions Granted by the Director of Civil Aviation
Pursuant to section 37 of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, notification is hereby given of a summary of an exemption, set out in the Schedule hereto, granted by the Director of Civil Aviation.

Docket 99/EXE/1 – CAR 91.311 (a) (3)
On 26 November 1998. To Roger Neville Stevenson, Neville Richard Stevenson, and Davin James Mudford, all being pilots employed by Stevenson Skywork Helicopters Limited, from the requirement in Civil Aviation Rule 91.311 (a) (3) that a pilot-in-command operating an aircraft under VFR shall operate that aircraft at a height of not less than 500 feet above the surface.
The exemption is granted only in respect of operations, carried out under the authority of an air operator certificate held by Stevenson Skywork Helicopters Limited, for the eradication of wild animals where the operation involves the carriage of passengers performing a task or duty on the operation.
This exemption shall apply until 30 June 1999 or until withdrawn in writing by the director, whichever occurs first.
Notice of the grant, withdrawal or denial of exemptions with provisos are published in the Civil Aviation Rules Register Information Leaflet (CARRIL). For the proviso, refer to issue dated 3 December 1998. The CARRIL is available on the CAA website www.caa.govt.nz.

Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974
Exemption From Specific Equipment Requirement
Pursuant to regulation 16A (2) of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974, pursuant to regulation 1 (7) (a) of the Goods Service Vehicle (Constructional) Regulations 1936, and pursuant to the powers delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety, I, Peter Waring, Senior Policy Engineer, hereby exempt the vehicles specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirement in Schedule 2, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 3.

- Regulation 16A (1) (b) of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974.
- Requirement to be fitted with audible low air pressure warning device required in regulation 2 (4) (b) (ii) of the Goods Service Vehicle (Constructional) Regulations 1936.
Schedule 3
(1) It must be demonstrated that the vehicles comply with the requirements of UN/ECE Regulation No. 13, 09 series of amendments, supplement 2 (E/ECE/324-E/ECE/TRANS/505, Rev.1/ Add 12/Rev.3/Amend.2). “Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles of categories M, N and O with regard to braking” or any later version of this regulation.
(2) The two, factory fitted independent visual warning devices of the vehicles to warn the drivers if the air pressure in any of the service brake reservoirs drops below 6.8 bar; or if the air pressure in the parking brake system or trailer brake system reservoir drops below 5.5 bar, must be operable.
(3) The vehicles must continue to comply with the requirements of the regulation in clause (1) and the requirement in clause (2) above.
(4) A statement of compliance with the requirements in clauses (1) and (2) above must be issued for each exempted vehicle by the authorised agent of the vehicle manufacturer, and it must require continuous compliance with this exemption.
(5) The statement of compliance in clause (4) above is sufficient means of verification of compliance with a standard, alternative to the one required in regulation 16A (1) (b) of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974.
(6) A copy of the statement of compliance in clause (4) above, together with every relevant supporting information and documents, must be kept by the person who issued it, and one copy of statement of compliance must be provided to the registration organisation and to the operator of the vehicle.
(7) This exemption may be revoked at any time.

Exemption From Specified Requirements of the Traffic Regulations 1976
Pursuant to regulation 90 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to the powers delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety Authority, I, Barry Edward Crocker, Vehicle Compliance Officer, hereby exempt the motor vehicle as specified in Schedule 1 from the requirements of the Traffic Regulations 1976 listed in Schedule 2, provided that the said vehicle complies with the conditions listed in Schedule 3.
