Order of the Council in Disciplinary Session
Order in Respect of Registered General and Obstetric Nurse and Midwife — Mary Jean O'Neil
After due inquiry and in exercise of its powers under sections 41 (3) and 48r, 42 (2) (a), 42 (9), 42 (2) (ba), 42 (3), 48A and 23 (2) of the Nurses Act 1977, the Nursing Council of New Zealand (“the council”), in a decision dated 21 May 1998, ordered that the name of Mary Jean O’Neil be removed from the register of midwives. The council declined to fix a time after which she may apply to have her name restored to the register. The council also ordered that Mary Jean O’Neil only practise as a general and obstetric nurse under supervision for a period of 12 months in a workplace approved by the council, that she pay 35 percent of the actual costs and expenses of and incidental to the investigation by the Health and Disability Commissioner, prosecution by the Director of Proceedings and inquiry by the council; that a notice stating the effect of these orders be published in the New Zealand Gazette, Kai Tiaki : Nursing New Zealand, New College of Midwives Journal and the Dominion and that she return to the Registrar all certificates and badges issued to her under the Nurses Act 1977.

Order in Respect of Registered Psychopaedic Nurse — Sandra Dale Millar
After due inquiry and in exercise of its powers under sections 42 (1) (b), 42 (2) (a), 42 (9), 42 (3), 48A and 23 (2) of the Nurses Act 1977, the Nursing Council of New Zealand (“the council”), in a decision dated 8 May 1998, ordered that the name of Sandra Dale Millar be removed from the register of psychopaedic nurses. The council declined to fix a time after which she may apply to have her name restored to the register. The council also ordered that she pay 60 percent of the total costs and expenses of and incidental to the investigation by the Preliminary Proceedings Committee and inquiry by the council; that a notice stating the effect of these orders be published in the New Zealand Gazette, Kai Tiaki : Nursing New Zealand, and The Press and that she return to the Registrar all certificates and badges issued to her under the Nurses Act 1977.
