Notice of Product Ruling

1. This is a notice of a product ruling made under section 91F of the Tax Administration Act 1994.

2. Product ruling No. 97/61 was issued on 29 July 1997. It relates to a group investment fund, and the application of sections BD 2, EE 1 and EF 2 of the Income Tax Act 1994, as amended by the Taxation (Core Provisions) Act 1996.

3. A copy of the ruling may be obtained by writing to the Assistant General Manager (Adjudication & Rulings), National Office, Inland Revenue, P.O. Box 2198, Wellington.

2. Product ruling No. 97/62 was issued on 29 July 1997. It relates to a superannuation scheme, and the application of sections HH 3 (5) and JB 3 and the definition of “qualifying trust” in section OB 1 of the Income Tax Act 1994, as amended by the Taxation (Core Provisions) Act 1996. It is essentially the same as product ruling No. 96/10, but takes into account the coming into force of the Taxation (Core Provisions) Act 1996, with effect from the 1997/98 income year.

It relates to an NZSE 10 Index Fund, and the application of sections CD 3, CD 4, GD 1 and HH 1 (7) of the Income Tax Act 1994, as amended by the Taxation (Core Provisions) Act 1996. It is essentially the same as product ruling No. 96/12, but takes into account the coming into force of the Taxation (Core Provisions) Act 1996, with effect from the 1997/98 income year.
