Financial Transactions Reporting Act 1996

Proposed Financial Transactions Reporting Regulations

Pursuant to Section 56 of the Financial Transactions Reporting Act 1996

The Minister of Justice hereby gives notice that he intends to make a recommendation that regulations be made pursuant to section 56 (1) (e) of the Financial Transactions Reporting Act 1996, to exempt special bank accounts established under the Social Security (Alternative Arrangements for Overseas Pensions) Regulations 1996 from customer verification. The proposed regulation will deem a “special bank account” not to be a facility.

Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu Act 1996

Notice of Amendment to the Charter of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu

Given Pursuant to Section 12 (4) of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu Act 1996

Notice is hereby given that the Minister of Maori Affairs has pursuant to section 12 (4) of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu Act 1996 received a copy of provisions from Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu to be incorporated in the Charter of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu (“the charter”) pursuant to section 12 (1) of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu Act 1996.

Notice is also given pursuant to section 12 (4) of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu Act 1996 that the Minister of Maori Affairs has received a copy of the resolution of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu passed on 24 May 1997 amending the charter pursuant to section 12 (4) (a) of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu Act 1996.

The effect of the resolution is to amend the charter by the addition of rule 24. The provisions contained in rule 24 are to constitute the procedure by which Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu may consider, after appropriate investigations and hearings, whether any changes should be made to the Papatipu Runanga of Ngai Tahu Whanui or their respective takiwa or to both. These provisions are to have effect, in accordance with section 12 (5) of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu Act 1996, in place of the procedure set out in section 30 (1) (b) of Te Ture Whenua Maori Act 1993.
