Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations and Retirements of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy

Pursuant to sections 28 (1) and 32 of the Defence Act 1990, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Naval Forces.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY

Chief of Naval Staff

Rear Admiral John Edwin Nugent Welch, C.B., is placed on the Retired List of the RNZN with effect from 8 April 1997.

Rear Admiral K. F. Wilson, C.B.E., L.V.O., is appointed Chief of Naval Staff for a period of 3 years with effect from 8 April 1997.

Commander Margaret June Eskrick is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserve with effect from 7 March 1997.

The appointments of the following Lieutenant Commanders are extended until the date shown:

James Trevor Kerry, RN (Rtd), is appointed to the RNZN in the rank of Lieutenant Commander, with seniority from 1 June 1986 and effect from 21 March 1997.
