820 NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE No. 33

  1. No hut, mudhole, stand, hide, shelter, maimai, boat, or cylinder or other contrivance shall be used for the hunting or killing of game in any part of Lake Ellesmere at which the water is of a depth greater than 60 cm, excepting such areas as may be decided upon by the North Canterbury Fish and Game Council, provided that nothing in this special condition shall prevent any person using any vessel for the purpose of retrieving game that has been legally killed or wounded.

  2. It shall be an offence for any person to wilfully leave on the hunting ground the bodies or parts of bodies of Black Swan or other game shot in the North Canterbury Fish and Game Region.

  3. Staking of maimais in the North Canterbury Fish and Game Region is 2 weeks before opening weekend, except on boundary areas where 4 weeks applies.

  4. It shall be lawful for hunters to hunt and kill game over fed areas within the North Canterbury Fish & Game region this season.

  5. The use of unpinned magazine shotguns is allowed within the North Canterbury Fish & Game region between 1 June 1997 and 23 November 1997, and 31 January 1998 to 26 April 1998 for the hunting of Canada Geese only, with the proviso that any person commits an offence who is in possession of an unpinned magazine shotgun and any species of gamebird other than Canada Geese during this period.
