Notice of Proposal to Promote an Indicative Referendum Petition

Pursuant to section 7 of the Citizens Initiated Referenda Act 1993, I give notice that I have received from Mark Whyte a proposal to promote an indicative referendum petition.

The wording of the question proposed to be put to voters in an indicative referendum isβ€”

"Should the Treaty of Waitangi, being an outdated document, be set aside and replaced with a national constitution which guarantees the equal rights of all New Zealanders without favour or discrimination?"

Comment is invited on this wording. Anyone wishing to comment must send 3 written copies to:

Criminal Justice Act 1985

Confiscation of Motor Vehicle

Pursuant to section 84 (2) of the Criminal Justice Act 1985, an order was made in the Napier District Court on 6 March 1997, against Billy Duke Kemp of Hastings, for the confiscation of the following motor vehicle:

Order for Confiscation of Motor Vehicle

Pursuant to Section 84 of the Criminal Justice Act 1985

On 10 March 1997 at the District Court at Tauranga, Jason Dudley Vercoe of 2 Harrisfield Drive, Tauranga, was convicted and sentenced to 5 months periodic detention and disqualified from holding or obtaining a motor driver's licence for 12 months from 10 March 1997, following his conviction on a charge of driving whilst disqualified having previously been disqualified.

And in addition to the above-mentioned penalty, Judge Thomas has ordered that a blue Ford Cortina Ghia motor vehicle, registered number IM 5163, owned by the above-named defendant Jason Dudley Vercoe, be forfeited to Her Majesty, pursuant to section 84 (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 1985.

The vehicle is to be surrendered to the Registrar, District Court, Tauranga, or the Bailiff of the District Court, Tauranga, by 4.00 p.m. on 11 March 1997.

Order for Confiscation of Motor Vehicle

Pursuant to Section 84 of the Criminal Justice Act 1985

On 11 March 1997 at the District Court at Tauranga, Zane Lyall Cole of 141 Fraser Street, Tauranga, was convicted and sentenced to 4 months periodic detention and disqualified from holding or obtaining a motor driver's licence for 12 months from 11 March 1997, following his conviction on a charge of driving whilst disqualified having previously been disqualified.

And in addition to the above-mentioned penalty, Judge Thomas has ordered that a cream Ford Falcon motor vehicle, registered number TT 3726, owned by the above-named defendant Zane Lyall Cole, be forfeited to Her Majesty, pursuant to section 84 (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 1985.

The vehicle is to be surrendered to the Registrar, District Court, Tauranga, or the Bailiff of the District Court, Tauranga, by 4.00 p.m. on 11 March 1997.
