(ii) The items specified in Schedule 2 must be in sound condition and good working order and must not be modified in any way;

(iii) This exemption may be revoked at any time;

(iv) A copy of this notice must be carried in the vehicle at all times and be readily available for inspection.

Exemption From Specified Requirements of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990

Pursuant to regulation 36 of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990, I, John Andrew Justice, Senior Engineer, hereby exempt the motor vehicles specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirements of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990 listed in Schedule 2, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 3.

Motor vehicles of all classes first registered outside New Zealand before 1 January 1991.

Schedule 2
Exempted requirements

relating to:

Regulation 13 (8): Brakes
Regulation 15 (2): Head lamps
Regulation 16 (5): Side lamps
Regulation 17 (3): Direction-indicator lamps
Regulation 18 (3): Stop lamps
Regulation 20 (2): Rear reflectors
Regulation 21 (3): Reversing lamps
Regulation 22 (2): Registration-plate illumination lamps

Regulation 25 (2): Daytime running lamps
Regulation 27: Windscreen wiping and washing
Regulation 28 (2): Rear-vision mirrors
Regulation 29 (4): Seat belts (anchorages only)
Regulation 30 (2): Seat belt anchorages
Regulation 32 (3): Door locks and hinges
Regulation 33 (3): Steering
Regulation 34 (1), (3): Interior fittings

Schedule 3
Conditions

(i) The vehicles specified in Schedule 1 must comply with all applicable requirements of the Traffic Regulations 1976;

(ii) The exemptions for the components listed in Schedule 2 only relate to their standard compliance, not to their presence or function;

(iii) The components specified in Schedule 2 must be within the vehicle manufacturersโ€™ operating limits;

(iv) The components specified in Schedule 2 must be in sound condition and good working order and must not be modified in any way;

(v) Original equipment seat belt anchorages are exempt from having to comply with an approved standard but any retrofitted anchorages must comply with either specification St 31391 or St 120395, whichever is applicable;

(vi) This exemption may be revoked at any time.
