Declaration of State of Local Civil Defence Emergency
Pursuant to section 52 of the Civil Defence Act 1983, I, Wynne Archdall Raymond, hereby declare a state of local civil defence emergency to be in force in The Timaru District Council area.
The state of local civil defence emergency shall come into force on the time and date of making the declaration.

Declaration Terminating State of Local Civil Defence Emergency
Pursuant to section 56 of the Civil Defence Act 1983, I, Wynne Archdall Raymond, hereby terminate the state of local civil defence emergency declared in respect of The Timaru District Council area.
The termination of the state of local civil defence emergency shall take effect from the time and date of the making of the declaration.

Confiscation of Motor Vehicle
Pursuant to section 84 (2) of the Criminal Justice Act 1985, an order was made in the Hastings District Court on 11 February 1997, against Edward William Wilkins for the confiscation of the following motor vehicle:
1976 Ford Escort, registration No. IA 9094.

Order for Confiscation of Motor Vehicle
Pursuant to Section 84 of the Criminal Justice Act 1985
On the 11th day of February 1997 at the District Court at Tauranga, Dick Reihana Wilson of 380 Fraser Street, Tauranga, was convicted and sentenced to 9 months supervision and disqualified from holding or obtaining a motor driverβs licence for 18 months from 11 February 1997, following his conviction on 11 February 1997 for the offence of driving with excess breath alcohol.
And in addition to the above-mentioned penalty, Judge I. B. Thomas has ordered that a Ford Falcon motor vehicle, registered No. HH 8169, owned by the above-mentioned defendant, Dick Reihana Wilson, be forfeited to Her Majesty, pursuant to section 84 (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 1985.
The vehicle is to be surrendered to the Registrar, District Court, Tauranga.

On the 21st day of November 1996 at the District Court at Hamilton, Petra Gwen Hambleton of 21 Blackburn Street, Hamilton, was convicted and sentenced to 2 months periodic detention following her conviction on a charge of driving with excess breath alcohol.
And in addition to the above-mentioned penalty, Judge C. J. Field has ordered that a 1980 Honda, registration No. JR 3383 owned by the above-mentioned defendant, Petra Gwen Hambleton, be forfeited to Her Majesty the Queen, pursuant to section 84 (2) of the Criminal Justice Act 1985.
And that she is not to own or have an interest in a motor vehicle for 2 years from 14 February 1997.
The vehicle is to be delivered to the Registrar, District Court, Hamilton by 14 February 1997.

Pursuant to section 76F of the Defence Act 1990, the Minister of Defence approves the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Cadet Forces (NZCF).

- Mrs J.M. Calder as Pilot Officer at No. 25 (District of Kaikohe) Sqn ATC with effect from 3 December 1996.
- Mr B.M. Clayton as Pilot Officer at No. 11 (District of Hastings) Sqn ATC with effect from 7 January 1997.
- Mr A.A. Douglas as Ensign at T.S. Bellona with effect from 21 November 1996.
