Conditions

i. The items specified in Schedule 2 must be within the vehicle manufacturer's specifications;

ii. The items specified in Schedule 2 must be in sound condition and good working order and must not be modified in any way;

iii. All seat belts must be securely anchored to the vehicle;

iv. This exemption may be revoked at any time;

v. A copy of this notice must be carried in the vehicle at all times and be readily available for inspection.

Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977

West Coast Rural Fire District Notice 1997

Pursuant to the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977, the National Rural Fire Authority hereby makes the following notice.

Notice

  1. (1) This notice may be cited as the West Coast Rural Fire District Notice 1997.

(2) This notice shall come into force 28 days after its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

  1. In this notice, unless the context otherwise requires, the

“Act” means the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977;
the “committee” means the West Coast Rural Fire Committee;
the “district” means the West Coast Rural Fire District;
the “notice” means the West Coast Rural District Notice 1997.

Constitution of the Rural Fire District

  1. (1) The areas set out in the Schedule to the notice are hereby constituted and declared to be a rural fire district to be known as the West Coast Rural Fire District.

(2) For the purposes of the Act the district shall be administered by a rural fire committee to be known as the West Coast Rural Fire Committee.

(3) The committee shall consist of 6 members as follows:

(a) One person appointed by The Buller District Council, in writing, signed on behalf of the council by the chief executive and secretary thereto; and

(b) One person appointed by The Grey District Council, in writing, signed on behalf of the council by the general manager and secretary thereto; and

(c) One person appointed by The Westland District Council, in writing, signed on behalf of the council by the general manager and secretary thereof; and

(d) One person appointed by Timberlands West Coast Limited, in writing, signed on behalf of Timberlands by the chief executive and secretary thereto; and

(e) One person appointed, in writing, by the Director-General of the Department of Conservation; and

(f) One person appointed, in writing, by the chief executive of the New Zealand Fire Service.

Schedule

These parts of the Nelson, Westland and Otago land districts comprising the districts of the Buller, Grey and Westland District Councils described generally as:

All that area containing 3 486 771 hectares, more or less, as shown on S.O. Plan 11484, lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Nelson and S.O. Plan 12273, lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Westland and S.O. Plan 11463, lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Westland and Otago, as the same on those plans numbered National Rural Fire Authority 124 deposited in the national office of the New Zealand Fire Service, Wellington.
