Matters Before Council

The authority has completed inquiries into the variations to standards prepared at full assessment of the following applications and proposal, has made recommendations to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Council that the variations be adopted into the Food Standards Code:

Use of Fibrinogen and Thrombin (A308). An application from Lesnie’s Pty Limited to approve the use of fibrinogen and thrombin, in the production of reformed meat, poultry and fish products.

Deletion of the Word ‘CALVADOS’ (A327). An application from Frechill Hollingdale & Page, acting for the Institut National Des Appellations D’Origine, to delete the reference to ‘CALVADOS’, a geographical region in France.

Sports Foods (P92). A proposal to develop a regulatory framework to provide for the composition and labelling of supplementary foods used by people engaged in sporting activities to assist them in achieving specific nutritional or performance goals.
