Dissolution of Charitable Trusts

The trusts listed below are no longer carrying on operations and have been dissolved under section 26(1) of the Charitable Trusts Act 1957 on 22 October 1997:

Application to Vary the Terms of a Bequest

Take notice that on the 11th day of December 1997, the Loyal Orange Institution of New Zealand (Incorporated) will at the High Court in Christchurch, apply to vary the terms of a bequest made to it by the late James Chism of Palmerston North.

A variation is sought as follows:

β€œThe capital and income from the Chism fund be used wholly for the purposes of maintenance of the buildings held on trust for the Loyal Orange Institution of New Zealand or by the trustees or lodges affiliated with the Loyal Orange Institution of New Zealand until such time as the capital fund is entirely used up in meeting maintenance costs.”

Any person who desires to oppose the application must give written notice of his/her intention to do so to the Registrar of the High Court at Christchurch, the Attorney-General and the solicitors for the Loyal Orange Institution of New Zealand (Incorporated), Weston Ward & Lascelles, P.O. Box 13-339, Christchurch (Attention: B. M. Nathan), not less than 7 clear days before the date of hearing.

Notice of Hearing by Appeals Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand

The Appeals Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand will be hearing an appeal by Mr J. T. Chapman against the decision of the Disciplinary Tribunal on Friday, 7 November 1997 at 2.00 p.m.

The hearing will be held in the Mercer Room of the institute, Level Two, Cigna House, 40 Mercer Street, Wellington.

Under the rules of the institute, hearings of the Appeals Council will normally be held in public and will be open to the news media.

The Appeals Council also has power, in the interests of any person or in the public interest, to hold a hearing, or any part of a hearing, in private.
