24 SUBSEQUENT EVENTS
In April 1997 Powerco Limited submitted a bid to purchase 35,050,000 (100% shareholding) shares in Egmont Electricity Limited of Hawera from the South Taranaki District Council, the sole owner, for an approximate consideration of $91 million.
The acceptance of this bid will be subject to public consultation process by the South Taranaki District Council as required by the Local Government Act.
