Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1990

Cancellation of Licence for an Early Childhood Centre

Pursuant to regulation 14 of the Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1990, and acting under authority delegated by the Secretary for Education, I hereby cancel the licence dated 7 July 1995, which was granted under those regulations to Pamela Maclean in respect of:

Queenstown Childcare Centre, situated at 2 Henry Street, Queenstown.

This centre has relocated.

This notice shall take effect the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Health (Needles and Syringes) Regulations 1987

The Health (Approval of Needles and Syringes) Notice 1996

Pursuant to regulations 4 and 5 of the Health (Needles and Syringes) Regulations 1987, the Director-General of Health gives the following notice.

N o t i c e

1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Health (Approval of Needles and Syringes) Notice 1996.

(2) This notice shall come into force on the 1st day of September 1996.

2. Approval of needles and syringes—The needles, syringes and winged intravenous device (butterfly) specified in the First Schedule to this notice are hereby declared to be approved needles and syringes for the purposes of regulation 3 of the Health (Needles and Syringes) Regulations 1987.

3. Fixing of costs and fees—The costs and fees which may be fixed under regulation 5 of the Health (Needles and Syringes) Regulations 1987, are hereby fixed as set out in the Second Schedule to this notice.

First Schedule

Clause 2

1. The following needles that comply with AS 1946–1984 Hypodermic Equipment—Single use needles (sterile) for medical use or equivalent standard:

16 g 1.5"

18 g 1"

22 g 1.5"

23 g 1"

26 g 0.5"

27 g 0.5"

30 g 0.5".

2. The following syringes that comply with AS 1094–1993 Medical Equipment—Single use syringes (sterile) for general medical use or equivalent standard:

3 ml

5 ml

10 ml

20 ml.

3. The following needles and syringes that comply with AS 1077–1992—Single use 1 ml syringes for injection or equivalent standard:

1 ml syringe and needle 28 g 0.5"

1 ml syringe and needle 29 g 0.5".

4. The followed winged intravenous device (butterfly) that complies with AS/NZS 2485–1995 Medical Equipment—Single use winged intravenous devices (sterile) for general medical use or equivalent standard:

25 g.

5. Needles or winged intravenous device (butterfly) must be sold in combination with syringes as single sale units.

Second Schedule

Clause 3

1. The amount of the cost to be borne by the purchaser, including service fee, shall be:

a. for a needle and syringe in combination, $1.00;

b. for a winged intravenous device (butterfly) and syringe in combination, $3.00.

2. This amount is reducible by:

a. 20 cents for each combination of used needle and syringe; and

b. 50 cents for each combination of used winged intravenous device (butterfly) and syringe, returned by the purchaser at the time of sale.

3. The amount of the service fee to be paid by the purchaser to authorised sellers shall be:

a. 50 cents for each needle and syringe in combination; and

b. $1.50 for each winged intravenous device (butterfly) and syringe in combination.

Explanatory Note:

This notice is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice, which came into force on 1 September 1996, approves new needles and syringes, and one winged intravenous device (known as a butterfly), that may be sold under the Health (Needles and Syringes) Regulations 1987. The approval is an addition to the standard needle and syringe pack approved in the Director-General’s notice of 16 March 1995. This notice also fixes the costs and fees to be paid by purchasers when purchasing needles, and the discounts that may be obtained when needles are returned at the time of sale.
