Notice Pursuant to Section 14
The authority has made a preliminary assessment of the following application to amend the Food Standards Code, and will now make a full assessment. To assist in this process, the authority invites written submissions on matters relevant to the application by 25 September 1996.
Extended use of Erythorbic Acid and its Sodium Salt in Fruit, Vegetables and their Products (A318). Application (A318) was received on 1 July 1996, from Cultor Food Science Pty Limited seeking to extend the use of the antioxidant, erythorbic acid and its sodium salt to partly processed fruits and vegetables (peeled, cut, sliced); and in vegetable based foods including dips, spreads, sauces, chutneys and pickles and salad dressings.
Notices Pursuant to Section 16
The authority has completed full assessments of the following applications, has prepared draft variations to certain standards in the Food Standards Code, and will now conduct inquiries to consider those draft variations. To assist in this process, the authority invites written submissions by 25 September 1996.
Extended use of Lysozyme in Cheese (A289). Application (A289) was received on 5 October 1995 from Chr. Hansen Pty Limited and Canadian Inovatech Inc. The applicant requests an amendment to Standard H9—Cheese and Cheese Products to extend the use of lysozyme (EC 3.2.1.17) in cheese.
Residues in Food (A301). Application (A301) was received on 18 January 1996 from the National Registration Authority for Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (NRA) to vary Standard A14—Residues in Food. The applicant requests a change to the existing maximum residue limit (MRL) for dimethoate in litchi, increasing it from 2 mg/kg to 5 mg/kg.
