Transit New Zealand Act 1989
Bylaw Regulating the Speed of Vehicles on State Highways (Queenstown Lakes District)
Pursuant to section 61 (3) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, Transit New Zealand hereby makes the following bylaw:
Bylaw
1. Title and commencement—This bylaw may be cited as the Transit New Zealand (Speed of vehicles on State Highways) Bylaw 1996/23 and shall come into force 28 days after the date of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
2. Interpretation—In this bylaw—
“Vehicle” has the same meaning as in the Transport Act 1962.
3. Limiting speed of vehicles on State Highways—No person shall drive or take or permit to be driven or taken any vehicle—
(a) At a speed exceeding 60 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highways described in the First Schedule to this bylaw; or
(b) At a speed exceeding 80 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highways described in the Second Schedule to this bylaw.
First Schedule
The section of State Highway No. 6 that is at Frankton from a point 370 m measured in an easterly direction from Frankton Road (State Highway No. 6A) to a point 150 m measured in a southerly direction from Frankton Road (State Highway No. 6A).
The section of State Highway No. 6A that is at Frankton from Kawarau Road (State Highway No. 6) to a point 150 m measured in a westerly direction from Marina Drive.
Second Schedule
The section of State Highway No. 6 that is at Frankton from a point 150 m measured in a southerly direction from Frankton Road (State Highway No. 6A) to a point 280 m measured in a south easterly direction from Kawarau Falls Bridge.
The section of State Highway No. 6A that is between Frankton and Queenstown from a point 150 m measured in a westerly direction from Marina Drive to a point 660 m measured in an easterly direction from Suburb Street.
This bylaw is made by delegated authority from the Transit New Zealand Authority.

The Traffic (Queenstown-Lakes District) Notice 1996
Pursuant to sections 52 (1) (c) and 52 (3) of the Transport Act 1962 and regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and to a delegation from the Minister of Transport dated 31 August 1990, I, Grant Stewart Ellis Milne, Secretary for Transport, give the following notice:

(1) This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Queenstown-Lakes District) Notice 1996.
(2) The area specified in the Schedule is declared to be a closely populated locality at all times for the purposes of section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.
(3) The following notices are revoked:

Schedule
SITUATED within Queenstown-Lakes District at Queenstown and Frankton:
All roads except No. 6 State Highway (Blenheim - Invercargill via Nelson and Greymouth) and No. 6A State Highway (Frankton - Queenstown) within that area bounded by a line commencing at a point on the south-eastern side of Glenorchy-Queenstown Road 50 metres measured south-westerly, generally, along the said road from its intersection with the eastern end of Fernhill Road; thence across Glenorchy-Queenstown Road at right angles to its south-eastern side to its north-western side; thence south-westerly, generally, along the north-western side of Glenorchy-Queenstown Road across Fernhill Road to a point 600 metres measured south-westerly, generally, along the said road from its intersection with the western end of Fernhill Road; thence due north by a right line for a distance of 1200 metres; thence north-easterly, generally, by a right line to the southern end of Industrial Place; thence northerly, generally, along the western and northern sides of Industrial Place to the western side of Gorge Road; thence northerly, generally, along Gorge Road to a point 80 metres measured northerly, generally, along Gorge Road from Industrial Place; thence across Gorge Road at right angles to its western side to its eastern side; thence north-easterly, generally, by a right line to a point 500 metres measured due north from the intersection of No 6 State Highway (Blenheim - Invercargill via Nelson and Greymouth) and No 6A State Highway (Frankton - Queenstown); thence south-easterly, generally, by a right line, across Robberson Street to the south-eastern end of Riverside Road; thence due south to the true left bank of the Kawarau River; thence north-westerly and south-westerly, generally, along the bank of the Kawarau River and the northern shore of Lake Wakatipu to a point due south of the commencing point; thence due north to the commencing point.
No 6 State Highway (Blenheim - Invercargill via Nelson and Greymouth) and No 6A State Highway (Frankton - Queenstown) from a point 660 metres measured easterly, generally, along the said State Highway from Suburb Street to Beach Street.
