Matter at Inquiry

The authority has completed a full assessment of the following application and will now conduct an inquiry.

Residues in food (A307): This application was received on 9 April 1996 from the National Registration Authority for Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals (NRA). It seeks to amend the Food Standards Code to establish Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for the new chemicals abamectin, altrenogest, chlorfenapyr, cyclanilide, cypromidil, diofenolan, etofenprox, fenpyroximate, pyrimethanil and tribenuron-methyl. It also seeks to include changes to MRLs for the chemicals azinphos-methyl, bifenthrin, bromoxynil, ethephon, ethoprophos, fenoxycarb, imidacloprid, ivermectin, methamidophos, metosulam, paraquat, pencycuron, phorate, picolinafen, tebuconazole, terbufos, tilmicosin and triadimenol.

The authority has prepared the following proposal and will now make a full assessment.

Review of labelling food which is not for retail sale (P147): The authority has prepared a proposal to review the current provisions for labelling on food which is not for direct sale to the consumer.

To assist in the process, the authority invites written submissions on matters relevant to the proposal by 14 February 1997.
