Matter at Full Assessment

The authority has made a preliminary assessment, has accepted the following application and will now make a full assessment.

Pictorial representations in the labels of soft drinks (A323). This application, received on 23 August 1996 from Lloyd Products Pty Limited, seeks to permit the labels of clear soft drinks packaged in clear containers to include pictorial representations of fruit or fruit juices.

In particular, the authority is seeking information on pictorial representations in the labels of food and how consumers use and interpret these pictorial representations.

Matter at Inquiry

The authority has completed a full assessment of the following application and will now conduct an inquiry.

Edible coatings on cheese (A302). This application, received on 20 February 1996 from the Australian Food Industry Science Centre, seeks to vary Standard H9–Cheese and Cheese Products to permit the use of the modifying agents listed in Group I (vegetable gums) and Group IV (emulsifiers) of Table I of Standard A10, glycerin, sorbic acid and natamycin, as components of edible coatings for cheese and cheese products.

The authority has prepared a draft variation to Standard H9–Cheese and Cheese Products.
