PUBLICATION OF FOREIGN CURRENCY - EXCHANGE RATES

Readers should note that the Customs & Excise Act 1996 provides for the Chief Executive to determine the method of publication of exchange rates. The publication of this information will change with effect from 1 October 1996.

The Department will no longer publish the rates in the Gazette after 1 October 1996 but will continue to publish the new rates of exchange in the Customs Release each fortnight in line with current policy. There will be no change to the existing format or the content.

Subscribers to the Gazette are advised that from 1 October 1996 the exchange rates will only be available on subscription to Customs Release. This subscription is available from Customs Publications, Private Bag 1928, Dunedin. Telephone 0-3-474 9340, facsimile 0-3-474 9370.

In terms of the new Customs & Excise Act, Exchange Rate Notice No. 1 will appear in the Customs Release No. 225 and published on 4 October 1996.
