Transport Act 1962

The Transport (Amendment to NZS 5433:1988 and Revocation of Hazardous Substances—Modifications to Prescribed Standard Notices) Notice No. 1, 1996

Pursuant to section 70E (4) and (6) of the Transport Act 1962, and pursuant to a delegation from the Land Transport Safety Authority and a sub-delegation from the Director of Land Transport Safety, the Manager Safer Roads and Rail, hereby gives the following notice:

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as The Transport (Amendment to NZS 5433:1988 and Revocation of Hazardous Substances—Modifications to Prescribed Standard Notices) Notice No. 1, 1996.

(2) This notice will come into force on the date of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

  1. Amendment to NZS 5433:1988—Amendment No. 2 dated February 1994 and Amendment No. 3 dated September 1996, issued by Standards New Zealand to amend New Zealand Standard Code of Practice for the Transport of Hazardous Substances on Land (“NZS 5433:1988”), are hereby adopted by the Land Transport Safety Authority as amendments to that standard.

  2. Revocation of Hazardous Substances—Modifications to Prescribed Standard Notices—The Hazardous Substances—Modifications to Prescribed Standard Notices issued pursuant to section 70E (3), (4) and (6) of the Transport Act 1962, and listed in the Schedule to this notice, are hereby revoked.

Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990

Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990 Approval of Glazing Standard.

Pursuant to regulation 6(1) of the Transport (Vehicles Standards) Regulations 1990, I, Peter Nicholas Rendall, Senior Vehicle Compliance Officer, hereby prescribe the standard specified in the Schedule of this notice, as an alternative standard for the purposes of regulation 26 of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990.

Exemption From Specified Requirements of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990

Pursuant to regulation 36 of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990, I, Peter Nicholas Rendall, Senior Vehicle Compliance Officer, hereby exempt the motor vehicle specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirements contained in regulation 29 (1) (a) and (c), (3) and (4) of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990, subject to the conditions specified within Schedule 2 of this notice.

Conditions

(i) Lap and diagonal seatbelts manufactured to an approved standard are fitted to the driver’s seat position and that of the left front passenger;

(iii) This exemption may be revoked at any time;

(iv) A copy of this notice must be carried in the vehicle at all times and be readily available for inspection.
