Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations and Retirements of Officers of the New Zealand Army

Pursuant to sections 8 (1), 28 (2) and 32 of the Defence Act 1990, Her Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army.

REGULAR FORCE

Chief of Defence Force

Major General A.L. Birks, C.B., O.B.E., to be Lieutenant General and is appointed Chief of Defence Force for a period of 3 years with effect from 25 February 1995.

Chief of General Staff

Brigadier P.M. Reid, C.B.E., to be Major General with seniority and effect from 25 February 1995, is appointed Chief of General Staff for a period of 3 years and transferred to the Generals’ List.

Brigadiers’ List

Brigadier G.D. Birch, M.B.E., is re-engaged until 31 January 1996.

Colonels’ List

Colonel Neil Arthur Bradley, O.B.E., M.E.(CIV.), is transferred to the Army Reserve, General List of Officers, with effect from 1 May 1995.

Colonel Clive Paul Sinclair is posted to the Retired List with effect from 15 May 1995.
