Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Waiohau
Pursuant to sections 146 and 155 of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education, hereby gives the following notice:

This notice may be cited as the Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Waiohau.

The notice shall come into force two days after the date of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

I hereby establish at Waiohau a primary school called Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Waiohau, and designate it as a kura kaupapa Maori.

Aims, purposes, and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Waiohau:
(a) Ko te wharekura, he whare wananga, he papa pounamu, whakatipu i nga tauira, kia toa rangatira nga pumanawa i roto i to ratou Tuhoetanga, i te matauranga hoki.
The school will be a treasured learning place, challenging students’ cultural talents, leadership, responsibility and academic excellence.
(b) He whakapumau i te wairua Maori, i te wairua manaaki, i te wairua whanaungatanga, i te matemateaone, o te wharekura ki tona iwi kainga, hai whakahau i nga tauira, kia hihiri ki nga taumata.
To establish the spiritual and cultural essence, the caring and kinship bonding of community and school relations, thereby promoting and enhancing student achievement.
(c) He whakataki kaupapa akoranga e matatau ai nga tauira ki te reo Maori, ki nga tikanga-a-hinengaro, ki nga mauri, ki nga mana, ki nga tapu, kia tu pakari i roto i to ratou ao Maori, ao Pakeha, i te ao whanui hoki.
To encourage, experience and practise a quality legacy programme, acquiring bicultural fluency, and knowledge of the world.
(d) He whakapumau ko te reo Maori te mauri tuturu puta noa i roto i nga wahanga katoa, i nga whakanekeke hoki o te wharekura.
To establish that Maori be the principal language, operational throughout the school and in its philosophy.
(e) He whai pono, he whai matawhanui i te kaupapa kawenata, o te wharekura ki nga tauira, kia pumau tonu ki nga tumanako, ki nga wawata, ki nga moemoea, ki nga tikanga, i kaingakautia e te iwi kainga.
To ensure that the school curriculum is responsive to the needs of the students, and influences the desires and aspirations of the community.
- Constitution of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Waiohau shall comprise:
(a) Five elected parent representatives.
(b) The principal.
(c) A staff representative.
(d) Two members co-opted by the Board.

Aims, purposes, and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Matahi:
(a) Kia kawea e matou, e nga pouako, e nga whanau katoa o Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Matahi a matou tamariki i roto i to matou Tuhoetanga.
To instil in our children pride in our tribal identity as Tuhoe.
(b) Kua ruia mai e koro ma, e kui ma, nga purapura, a, koinei ta matou mahi, he ngaki i taua mara kia puta ai nga oranga wairua, oranga tinana, oranga iwi.
To develop a holistic approach in the education of each individual.
(c) Kia whakapumautia to matou reo Maori puta noa i nga wahi akoranga katoa o nga tamariki-mokopuna nei.
To promote the use of the Maori language throughout all areas of learning.
(d) Ko te wharekura tetahi o nga wahi, a, me whakaahua e te taiao o tenei o nga turangawaewae, nga ahuatanga katoa hei whakaaraara, hei whakakoi i te hinengaro o te tamaiti-mokopuna, ki nga matau katoa, hai arahi i a ia i roto i te ao.
To fully prepare each child for life’s future challenges.
(e) Ko te tamaiti, ko te mokopuna, he iti pounamu. Ko ta matou he poipoi, a, he whakapiki ake i nga mohiotanga katoa, Ma tenei ka tu pakari, ka tu tangata ia mo tona ano ao.
To encourage each student to aspire to his/her potential.
