Notice of Extension of Time for Preliminary Determination: Leather Jackets and Coats from Pakistan
Background
By notice dated 21 December 1994, the Secretary of Commerce initiated an investigation to determine both the existence and effect of alleged dumping of goods specified in the Schedule to this notice.
Declaration
Pursuant to section 12 (2) of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988, I hereby declare that by reason of—
The difficulty of obtaining satisfactory evidence in the investigation
the preliminary determination in respect of the goods specified in the Schedule to this notice may be made within 90 days of the initiation of the investigation.
SCHEDULE
Description of Goods Subject To Investigation
Men’s and women’s full and half length jackets and coats made of leather or composition leather made from bovine leather (including buffalo leather) or pig skin leather EXCLUDING:
(1) leather protective suits for motor cycle racing, with rigid plastic protective inserts fitted for elbows, shoulders and knees; and
(2) splithide protective equestrian clothing, viz leggings, chaps and chapettes.
Country of Origin
Pakistan
The goods are currently classified under Tariff Item and Statistical Keys 4203.10.11.00F and 4203.10.19.00G of the Tariff of New Zealand, which classification is provided for convenience and Customs purposes only, the written description being dispositive.
