Notice of Intention to Apply for Ministerial Approval of a Code of Practice Under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992

Safety Code for Forest Operations Part 3—Logging

Pursuant to section 20 of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, I, R. J. M. Hill, General Manager, Occupational and Health Service of the Department of Labour, in exercise of those powers delegated to me by the Secretary of Labour, pursuant to section 41 of the State Sector Act 1988, hereby give notice of intention, to apply to the Minister of Labour for his approval of a statement of preferred work practices or arrangements for health and safety in logging as an “Approved Code of Practice”, under the Act.

These preferred work practices or arrangements are designed to describe the general operational safety provisions as to general safety rules, safety clothing and equipment, noise, first aid, safe use of chainsaws, tree felling, machine and skid work and forest access.

Traffic Regulations 1976

Exemption from Restrictions Relating to Use of Television Set in Motor Vehicle

Pursuant to regulation 90 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, I, Michael Joseph Small, Senior Vehicle Compliance Officer, hereby exempt the class of motor vehicle specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirements contained within regulation 79 (1) and (2) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, subject to the condition specified within Schedule 2 of this notice.

Condition

The television monitor screen shall be inoperative at all times whilst the vehicle is in motion.
