Notice of Vacancy in Seat in House of Representatives for Selwyn Electoral District

Pursuant to section 129 (1) of the Electoral Act 1993, I, Peter Wilfred Tapsell, Speaker of the House of Representatives, hereby give notice that Ruth Margaret Richardson has resigned her seat in the House of Representatives for the Selwyn Electoral District with effect on the 19th day of July 1994, and that the said seat is vacant by reason of that resignation.

Warrant for Issue of Writ for By-Election

To the Clerk of the Writs

Pursuant to the Electoral Act 1993, I hereby authorise and direct you to proceed forthwith to issue a writ for the election of a member of Parliament for the Selwyn Electoral District.

Selwyn By-Election—Notifying Issue of Writ, Date of Polling, Etc.

Pursuant to a warrant under the hand of the Speaker of the House of Representatives dated this 19th day of July 1994 directed to the Clerk of the Writs, I have this day issued a writ to the Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Selwyn authorising the Returning Officer to proceed to the election of a Member of Parliament for that electoral district. Friday, the 22nd day of July 1994 has been fixed as the last day for the nomination of candidates, and Saturday, the 13th day of August 1994, as the day upon which the poll for such election shall (if necessary) be taken, and Wednesday, the 7th day of September 1994, as the day on or before which the said writ shall be returnable to me.
