Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988

Notice of Review of Need for Continued Imposition of Anti-Dumping Duty on Refined Sugar from Malaysia, Thailand, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark

I, Philip Burdon, Minister of Commerce, hereby give notice that, pursuant to section 19 (3) of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988 and section 186I.(5) of the Customs Act 1966 (as inserted by section 2 (1) of the Customs Amendment Act (No. 3) 1987), I shall review the need for the continued imposition of the anti-dumping duty on the goods described in Schedule 1 hereto, which duty was imposed by the Minister of Customs by notice dated 9 November 1988 published in the New Zealand Gazette of 10 November 1988,

and that pursuant to section 14 (5) of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988, I shall review the need for the continued imposition of the anti-dumping duty on the goods described in Schedule 2 hereto, which duty was imposed by the Minister of Commerce by notice dated 7 June 1989 published in the New Zealand Gazette of 15 June 1989.

Schedule 1

Goods Subject to Review

Country of Export:
Germany, Malaysia, Thailand.

Description of Goods:
Refined sugar, being refined white sugar and other types of refined sugar (refined from sugar cane or from sugar beets).

Schedule 2

Goods Subject to Review

Country of Export:
Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands.

Description of Goods:
Refined sugar (refined from sugar cane or sugar beets) exported by August Topfer and Co GMBH from the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark, and by Hottlet Sugar Trading NV from Belgium.

The goods in Schedules 1 and 2 are currently classified under Tariff Items and Statistical Keys:

1701.91.00.01E, 1701.91.00.09L, 1701.91.00.19H,
1701.99.00.01A, 1701.99.00.09G, 1701.99.00.11J,
1701.99.00.21F, 1701.99.00.29A, 1701.99.00.32A,
1701.99.00.38L, 1701.99.00.41L and 1701.99.00.49F.

These Tariff Items and Statistical Keys are provided for convenience and Customs purposes only, the written description being dispositive.
