Remembrance Day 1993

Thursday 11 November 1993 marks the 75th Anniversary of Remembrance (Armistice) Day and citizens throughout New Zealand are requested to observe this occasion.

The observance should be marked by the sounding of sirens and bells followed by a minutes silence from 11.00 a.m. In any locality where it is planned to hold a citizens memorial service, it would be appropriate for this to be held at the local cenotaph or war memorial.

The Government trusts that all churches will agree to incorporate into their services held on Sunday 14 November a reference or commemoration to all those who gave their lives during that conflict, and note that the day is also a celebration of peace.

Dated at Wellington this 29th day of October 1993.

GRAEME LEE, Minister of Internal Affairs.
