Departure of the Governor-General Overseas
Her Excellency the Governor-General, Dame Catherine Tizard, G.C.M.G., D.B.E., departed from Auckland International Airport at 8.27 p.m. on Sunday, 10 October 1993, for a private visit to the United States of America.
Following the departure of Her Excellency, and in the absence of the Chief Justice, The Rt Hon Sir Thomas Eichelbaum, G.B.E., the President of the Court of Appeal of New Zealand, The Right Honourable Sir Robin Cooke, K.B.E., has assumed the office of the Administrator of the Government in accordance with Clause XII of the Letters Patent Constituting the office of Governor-General.
