Temporary Safeguard Authorities Act 1987

Report on the Importation of Used Tyres

Pursuant to section 7 (1) of the Temporary Safeguard Authorities Act 1987, the Temporary Safeguard Authority appointed to inquire into the importation of used tyres has now reported to the Minister of Commerce.

Copies of the non-confidential version of the report are available from the Trade Remedies Group, Ministry of Commerce, P.O. Box 1473, Wellington, at a G.S.T. inclusive price of $12.65 per copy.

Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations and Retirements of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy

Pursuant to section 32 of the Defence Act 1990, Her Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Naval Forces.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY

The appointment of Chaplain P.D. Bean, L.Th., Q.H.C., is extended until 1 April 1994.

Captain David Ninian Wood, O.B.E., is placed on the Retired List of the RNZN with effect from 30 March 1993.

Acting Captain D.I. Ledson, B.A., to be Captain with seniority and effect from 1 June 1993.

The appointment of Commander A. Chadwick is extended until 30 September 1996.

Commander Kevin Gordon Black, N.Z.C.E., is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserves with effect from 9 June 1993.

The appointment of Commander N.T. Byrne, M.B.E., is extended until 24 January 1995.

Commander O.J. Hanley is appointed Assistant Provost Marshal of the RNZN with effect from 31 March 1993, vice Lieutenant P.A. Murch.

Lieutenant Commander Daniel Brian Herlihy is placed on the Retired List of the RNZN in the rank of Commander, with effect from 30 March 1993.

Lieutenant Commander M.I. Chapman, B.A., LL.B., to be temporary Commander with effect from 21 June 1993.

Lieutenant Commander Gary Robert St Clair Medcalf is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserves with effect from 27 July 1993.

The seniority of Lieutenant Commander L.C.J. Somervell is post-dated to 27 February 1989.

The appointment of acting Commander G.A. Rees, LL.B., is extended until 6 October 1999.

Lieutenant Commander Gordon Stuart Jackson, N.Z.C.E., is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserves with effect from 25 March 1993.

Lieutenant Commander W.J. Tucker, B.E.(MECH.) to be temporary Commander with effect from 8 June 1993.

Lieutenant Commander Christina Jane McCarthy, B.Sc., DIP.ED., DIP.TCHG., is placed on the Retired List of the RNZN with effect from 26 April 1993.

The appointment of Chaplain P. Law is extended until 8 February 1998.

Lieutenant R.G. Skinner to be Lieutenant Commander with seniority and effect from 1 July 1993.

Lieutenant S.K. Hill to be acting Lieutenant Commander with effect from 26 May 1993; and Lieutenant Commander with seniority and effect from 15 August 1993.

The following acting Lieutenant Commanders to be Lieutenant Commander with seniority and effect from the date shown:

Lieutenant Steven Robert Edward Davis, N.Z.C.E., B.E.(MECH.) is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserves with effect from 28 August 1993.

Acting Lieutenant Commander M.I. Ternent relinquishes his acting rank with effect from 26 May 1993.

The following Lieutenants to be acting Lieutenant Commander with effect from the date shown:

Lieutenant E.M. Weller: with reference to the notice published in the Gazette, 12 July 1990, No.119, p.2454, for the effective date “17 February 1990” substitute “11 November 1989”.

The appointment of Lieutenant R.N. Gould, B.A., B.TH., DIP.ARTS, DIP.BUS.STUD., DIP.P. & M.M., is extended until 29 December 2003.

Lieutenant Nicola Jane Sinclair, M.A., is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserves with effect from 20 March 1993.

The appointment of Lieutenant Nigel Arthur Curry, B.Sc., is terminated with effect from 21 March 1993.

The seniority of Lieutenant D.T. Whaanga is post-dated to 21 May 1991.

Lieutenant Gary John James is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserves with effect from 8 May 1993.
