Summary of Bills Introduced

Hamilton Parsonage Site Amendment
Amends the Hamilton Parsonage Site Act 1904 to provide for all moneys received by the Waikato Diocesan Trust Board from the sale or exchange of trust property to be held for the sole benefit of the Cathedral Chapter of St Peter, Hamilton.

Thomas Cawthron Trust Amendment
Alters the constitution of the Board of the Thomas Cawthron Trust. Provides for 6 members to be appointed by the members ex officio of the board. Currently 3 members of the board are appointed by the Minister of Research, Science and Technology and 4 members are appointed by the Governor-General in Council after consultation with the board.

Ratepayer Electoral Roll
Amends the Local Elections and Polls Act 1976. Promotes efficiencies in the compilation of the ratepayer electoral roll.

Dog Control (Protected Wildlife)
Reforms the law relating to dog control by amending—

(a) The Dog Control and Hydatids Act 1982 to include protection for protected wildlife; and

(b) The Conservation Act 1987 to control access by dogs to areas administered under that Act, and to provide for trespassing dogs disturbing or threatening protected wildlife on areas administered under that Act to be destroyed.

Subordinate Legislation (Confirmation and Validation) (No. 3)
Confirms and validates certain subordinate legislation made under enactments providing that the legislation lapses after a time unless confirmed or validated by Act of Parliament. Confirms orders under the Customs Act 1966, Regulations under the Fisheries Act 1983, an Order under the Civil Aviation Act 1990 and Orders under the Commodity Levies Act 1990, and validates and confirms Orders under the Tariff Act 1988. Earlier enactments, now spent, confirming and validating subordinate legislation are also repealed by this bill.

Producer Board Acts Amendment
Amends the Apple and Pear Marketing Act 1971 and the Primary Products Marketing Act 1953. Seeks to deregulate the local market for apples and pears, and other provisions aimed at increasing the Apple and Pear Board’s independence from the Government, and to improve the Board’s accountability to growers. The amendments to the Primary Products Marketing Act 1953 are designed to make bodies established under that Act financially independent of Government.
