Return of the Governor-General From Overseas
Her Excellency the Governor-General, Dame Catherine Tizard, G.C.M.G., D.B.E., returned to Auckland International Airport at 10.21 a.m. on Sunday, 1 August 1993, following a short period of leave.
Her Excellency has now resumed the performance of all the functions of the office of Governor-General. Accordingly, the Chief Justice of New Zealand, The Right Honourable Sir Thomas Eichelbaum, G.B.E., has relinquished office of the Administrator of the Government.
