3. INTERCONNECTION
3.1 Supply of Interconnection Services
On 1 April 1993, Telecom New Zealand Limited (TNZL) acquired the businesses of TAL, TCL and TSL, and on and from 1 April 1993 TNZL has carried on the business previously carried on by TAL, TCL and TSL prior to 1 April 1993.
With effect on and from 1 April 1993:
(i) TAL, TCL and TSL have assigned their benefits under the Interconnection Agreement to TNZL; and
(ii) TNZL has agreed to carry out and complete the obligations of TAL, TCL and TSL under any existing Interconnection Agreements.
On 1 April 1993, Telecom Mobile Communications Limited (formerly Telecom Cellular Limited) acquired the business of Telecom Paging Limited, and on and from 1 April 1993, Telecom Mobile Communications Limited has carried on the business previously carried on by Telecom Paging Limited.
Therefore, the previously disclosed template interconnection contract must be read with the above consequential changes in mind.
3.2 Cellular Networks
With effect from the end of the quarter, Telecomβs standard local call charge to interconnected cellular networks is as follows:
(a) for the period to and including 31 December 1993, 4 cents per minute or part of a minute;
(b) from 1 January 1994 to and including 31 December 1994, 4.15 cents per minute or part of a minute;
(c) from 1 January 1995 to and including 31 December 1995, the lower of 4.25 cents per minute or part of a minute and the TLOC local call charge (including the timing basis for billing purposes) applying from time to time during that period;
(d) from 1 January 1997 to an including 22 March 1998, the lower of 4.75 cents per minute or part of a minute and the TLOC local call charge (including the timing basis for billing purposes) applying from time to time during that period;
(e) for the period until 31 December 1994, the charges described in (a) and (b) above shall apply at all times of the day. Thereafter the off-peak rates set out in the TLOC from time to time will apply for off-peak periods as described in the TLOC.
