Return of the Governor-General From Overseas
Her Excellency the Governor-General, Dame Catherine Tizard, G.C.M.G., D.B.E., accompanied by her Official Secretary and members of the Household, returned to Auckland International Airport at 9.15 a.m. on Tuesday, 20 July 1993, following an Official Visit to Tonga, Tokelau, Western Samoa and the Cook Islands.
Her Excellency has now resumed the performance of all the functions of the office of Governor-General. Accordingly, the Chief Justice of New Zealand, The Right Honourable Sir Thomas Eichelbaum, G.B.E., has relinquished office of the Administrator of the Government.
