Part IV amends the Education Act 1964 by changing the Minister’s powers of delegation in respect of the provision of school transport assistance. Rather than the Minister delegating powers to Education Boards, the Minister may delegate those powers to any person or body she or he thinks fit.

Biosecurity

The purpose is the exclusion, eradication or effective management of pests and unwanted organisms. Envisages that the Acts under which these functions are presently carried out will be repealed over a period of time in order to allow for the administration changes required.

Provides for the:

(a) Management of risks associated with the importation of any goods that may result in the introduction of harmful organisms;

(b) Continual monitoring for the presence of unwanted organisms in the country;

(c) Management or eradication of diseases, pests or noxious plants;

(d) Provision of emergency powers for the prevention, management or eradication of unwanted organisms if emergencies occur;

(e) Provision of indemnities for inspectors and for the Crown; and

(f) Provision of regulation-making powers.

Animal Remedies Act 1967

Licenses Issued Under the Animal Remedies Act 1967 (Notice No. 5193; Ag. 154)

Pursuant to sections 21 (6), 26A and 28 (3) of the Animal Remedies Act 1967, the Registrar of the Animal Remedies Board hereby gives notice that licenses have been issued, reissued or revoked in the Schedules hereto;

  1. The licenses for remedies listed in Schedule I are new licenses issued, not declared to be Prescription Animal Remedies.

  2. The licenses for remedies listed in Schedule II are new licenses issued which have been declared to be prescription animal remedies and may be administered to an animal only—

    in the case of PAR Class I

    (i) By a veterinary surgeon;

    (ii) or under and in accordance with the authority or prescription of a veterinary surgeon;

    in the case of PAR Class II

    (i) By a veterinary surgeon;

    (ii) or in the presence and under the direct control of a veterinary surgeon;

    in the case of PAR Class III

    By a veterinary surgeon.

  3. The remedies listed in Schedule III are provisionally licensed subject to the conditions shown in respect of them.

  4. The licenses for remedies listed in Schedule IV are licenses which have lapsed or have been withdrawn by the licensee.
