Departure of the Governor-General for Overseas
Her Excellency the Governor-General, Dame Catherine Tizard, G.C.M.G., D.B.E., departed from Auckland International Airport at 10.25 a.m. on Sunday, 23 August 1992 for a private visit to Australia.
Following the departure of Her Excellency, the President of the Court of Appeal of New Zealand, the Right Honourable Sir Robin Cooke, K.B.E., has assumed the Office of the Administrator of the Government in accordance with Clause XII of the Letters Patent constituting the Office of Governor-General.
