Charitable Trust Act Notices
William Georgetti Scholarship Board
Notice of Application for Approval of a Scheme Under Parts III and V of the Charitable Trust Act 1957
Notice is hereby given that the Public Trustee, as trustee of the will of William Georgetti, deceased, has filed in the office of the High Court at Wellington an application for approval of a scheme varying the membership of the William Georgetti Scholarship Board ("the Board") constituted under a scheme approved by the High Court on 24 June 1969 and as subsequently amended by a scheme approved by the High Court on 11 July 1973.
A representative on the scholarship board was the chairman for the time being of the university grants committee but since the Universities Act 1961 was repealed by the Education Act 1989 that committee has been abolished and there is no position of chairman of that committee. The proposed amendment provides an additional person of academic distinction appointed by the vice-chancellor’s committee constituted by section 46 of the Universities Act 1961 to be appointed to the scholarship board.
It is accordingly proposed that the scholarship board shall now comprise the following:
(a) The Governor-General of New Zealand or such person as the holder of that office may from time to time nominate;
(b) The Prime Minister of New Zealand or such person as the holder of that office may from time to time nominate;
(c) The Chief Justice of New Zealand or such other judge of the High Court or retired judge of the High Court of New Zealand as the Chief Justice may from time to time nominate;
(d) Two persons of academic distinction appointed by the vice-chancellor’s committee constituted by section 46 of the Universities Act 1961.
(e) The dominion president of the Federated Farmers of New Zealand Incorporated or such other person as the holder of that office may from time to time nominate.
Copies of the scheme and the report of the Attorney-General thereon may be inspected free of charge, at the office of the Registrar of the High Court, Wellington, and at the Public Trust Office at Hastings and Wellington.
The date proposed for the hearing of the application is on the 24th day of July 1991.
Any person desiring to oppose this scheme is required to give written notice of the objection to the Registrar of the High Court at Wellington, to the Public Trustee and to the Attorney-General not less than 7 clear days before the hearing date set out above.
W. L. B. DOUGLAS, Office Solicitor, Public Trust Office.
