Notice of Decisions of Disciplinary Committee

Notice is hereby given by the Disciplinary Committee of the New Zealand Society of Accountants that at a conjoint hearing held on the 16th day of October 1991, David Gordon Halvor Sorensen of Waipukurau, appeared before the committee on charges that he had been guilty of acts and/or defaults discreditable to an accountant and, he had conducted himself in such a manner as to render the exercise of the powers of the disciplinary committee expedient in the interests of the public or of the society.

David Gordon Halvor Sorensen having pleaded guilty to charges A and B in respect of particulars A, B, C (i) and (ii) as laid, the committee found the charges proven. David Gordon Halvor Sorensen having pleaded not guilty to charges A and B in respect of particular C (iii) and (iv), the committee found the charges in respect of the particulars not proven.

The disciplinary committee ordered that David Gordon Halvor Sorensen be removed from the Register of Members of the Society and fixed the date of 16 October 1992 after which David Gordon Halvor Sorensen may reapply for re-registration, pursuant to section 24 (3) (d) of the New Zealand Society of Accountants Act 1958. David Gordon Halvor Sorensen was ordered to pay to the society the sum of $13,367.36 (inclusive of G.S.T.) in respect of costs and expenses of and incidental to the inquiry by the disciplinary committee and the investigation by the investigation committee.

The disciplinary committee ordered that its decision be published in the Accountants’ Journal, the New Zealand Gazette and the daily newspaper circulating in the Hawke’s Bay District, with mention of the member’s name and locality.
