Traffic Regulations 1976

Approval of Brake Testing Instruments

Pursuant to regulation 88 of the Traffic Regulations 1976, the Secretary for Transport hereby approves, for the purposes of subclause (5) of regulation 68 of the Traffic Regulations 1976, the brake testing instruments of the modular system described in the Schedule hereto, subject to the conditions of approval set out in the said Schedule.

Hunter B404 Series Computerized Plate Brake Tester Manufactured by the Hunter Engineering Company—U.S.A.

Conditions of Approval

In accordance with the regulation 88 of the Traffic Regulations 1976, the above brake test equipment is approved subject to the following conditions:

1. The instruments are supplied with an accurate means of computing stopping distances (as required by regulation 88 of the Traffic Regulations 1976) from the indicated readings.

2. The brake efficiency readings on the instruments have the facility to automatically hold the highest reading of efficiency.

3. The supplier shall provide a calibration service that is readily available to the users of this brake testing machine.

4. The access to the brake test equipment be given to a person (authorised by the Secretary for Transport) to check on the accuracy for compliance purposes as required.
