Using the Gazette

The New Zealand Gazette, the official newspaper of the Government of New Zealand, is published weekly on Thursdays. Publishing time is 4 p.m.

Notices for publication and related correspondence should be addressed to:

or lodged at the Gazette Office, Room 611 (Sixth Floor), State Insurance Tower Block, corner Waring Taylor Street and Lambton Quay, Wellington.

Closing time for lodgement of notices at the Gazette Office: 12 noon on Tuesdays prior to publication (except for holiday periods when special advice of earlier closing times will be given).

Notices are accepted for publication in the next available issue, unless otherwise specified.

Notices being submitted for publication must be a reproduced copy of the original. Dates, proper names and signatures are to be shown clearly. A covering instruction setting out requirements must accompany all notices.

Copy will be returned unpublished if not submitted in accordance with these requirements.

1840–1925 (Public Domain): Issues of the New Zealand Gazette and Provincial Gazettes from this period are in the public domain, as the term of Crown copyright (100 years) has expired. Mechanical reproductions (e.g., scanned PDFs) of these public domain documents do not attract new copyright.
1926–1999 (Crown Copyright): Issues from this period remain subject to Crown copyright. Usage of these issues in this project is "Fair Dealing" for research purposes and consistent with the spirit of the open-access principles championed by NZGOAL, ie, "The default licensing position under ...
