TARIFF INDUSTRY ASSISTANCE (ADVERTISEMENT) NOTICE NO. 1990/19

Applications Advertised for Objection

Closing Date for Objections 19 June 1990

1. Notice is hereby given that the following applications have been made in respect of the goods advertised in the Schedule to this notice. Any person wishing to lodge an objection must do so in writing, to the ** Port of lodgement indicated by the reference number, before 19 June 1990. All submissions must include:

-- the Tariff Industry Assistance (Advertisement) Notice number;
-- the Tariff item;
-- the Port; and
-- Reference number.

2. All submissions from local manufacturers must include:

-- the range of alternative goods made locally;
-- the grounds on which objection is made (including reasons why the local product is a suitable alternative);
-- present and potential output;
-- details of factory cost in terms of materials, labour, overheads, including the proportion of domestic and imported content.

3. All submissions objecting to a request for the imposition of duty must include:

-- reasons why the local product on which protection is sought is not a suitable alternative;
-- full technical details of the goods against which tariff protection is sought.

4. Where further information is required in order to make a submission an objector should contact the applicant in writing and refer a copy of the enquiry to the port where the application was lodged quoting the details in paragraph 1 above.

5. Any submission not supported by the information required in the paragraphs above will not be regarded as a valid objection.

1. Baking trays and sheets being flat bakeware with up to 2.5cm sides; maximum size 43.5cm x 29.2cm
2. Pizza pans and crispers being round trays with or without holes in bottom and up to 1.3cm high sides; maximum diameter of 31.1cm
3. 6 cup muffin pans, maximum muffin hole size of 7.6cm diameter
4. Bread and loaf pans, oblong shaped only; maximum size 23.5cm x 13.3cm
5. Heart shaped pans

Weighing machinery (excluding balances of a sensitivity of 5cg or better), including weight-operated counting and checking machines; weighing machine weights of all kinds:

EXCLUDING:

(a) Weighing machinery, mechanical or electronic including:
bottlemwork (weighing mechanisms),
weighbridges, livestock weighing machines,
scales designed for weighing people, overhead
track scales, hopper scales with a maximum
rated weighing capacity of 25kg, or more and parts thereof;
(b) Domestic scales and balances, eg, kitchen scales

and parts thereof.

EXCLUDING:

1. Weighing machinery and parts thereof subject to concessional entry under Part II of the Tariff
2. Non-domestic person weighing scales, this exclusion does not include bathroom type scales which are in table use
