Vice Regal

Departure of the Governor-General Overseas and Assumption of Office by the Administrator of the Government

His Excellency the Governor-General, the Most Reverend Sir Paul Reeves, G.C.M.G., G.C.V.O., accompanied by Her Excellency Lady Reeves and with members of the Household in attendance, departed from Auckland at 9.45 a.m. on Friday, 20 April, to lead the New Zealand delegation to the 75th Anniversary of the Gallipoli landings at ANZAC Cove, Turkey.

Following the departure of His Excellency, the Chief Justice of New Zealand, the Right Honourable Sir Thomas Eichelbaum, G.B.E., has assumed the Office of the Administrator of the Government in accordance with clause XII of the Letters Patent constituting the Office of Governor-General.
