(2) Every member of the Board appointed under this section shall come into office on the day following such appointment.

(3) Every member of the Board, unless he or she sooner vacates his or her office, shall vacate his or her office on the appointment of his or her successor or at the close of the 31st day of March 1990, next following the last triennial general election of members of city and district councils referred to in section 3 (2) of this Act, whichever shall first occur."

180 BUDGETARY COMMITTEE

Section 15A of the Act is hereby further modified by deleting subsections (1) and (2) and substituting the following subsection:

"(1) Those persons appointed pursuant to paragraphs (a) to (d) of section 3 (2) of this Act, together with 1 other person appointed by the Otago Museum Trust Board, shall each be a member of a committee of the Board to be known as the Budgetary Committee."

181 CONTRIBUTING AUTHORITIES

The Act is hereby further modified by deleting the First Schedule to the Act and substituting the following Schedule:

"First Schedule

The contributing authorities shall be those named in column 1 and the differential factor appropriate to each contributing authority shall be that set opposite its name in column 2.

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At Wellington this 19th day of February 1990

Present:
His Excellency the Governor-General in Council

Pursuant to section 63 of the Local Government Amendment Act (No. 2) 1989, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

Order

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This order may be cited as the Local Government (Canterbury Region) Reorganisation Amendment Order 1990 and shall be read together with the deemed part of the Local Government (Canterbury Region) Reorganisation Order 1989* (hereinafter referred to as “the principal order”).

(2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

  1. Canterbury Museum Trust Board—The principal order is hereby amended by inserting, after Part XIII, the following Part:

"PART XIV CANTERBURY MUSEUM TRUST BOARD

178 MEMBERSHIP OF CANTERBURY MUSEUM TRUST BOARD

The Canterbury Museum Trust Board Act 1983 (hereinafter referred to in this Part of this Order as “the Act”) is hereby modified by deleting section 3 (2) and substituting the following subsection:

"(2) The Board shall consist of:

(a) Four members to be appointed by the Christchurch City Council;

(b) One member to be appointed by the Hurunui District Council and the Waimakariri District Council;

(c) One member to be appointed jointly by the Selwyn District Council and the Banks Peninsula District Council;

(d) One member appointed by the University of Canterbury;

(e) One member appointed by the Canterbury Branch of the Royal Society of New Zealand;

(f) One member appointed by the Ngai Tahu Trust Board;

(g) One member appointed by the Canterbury Pilgrims’ and Early Settlers’ Association; and

(h) One member appointed by the Association of Friends of the Canterbury Museum."

266 APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS OF BOARD

The Act is hereby further modified by deleting section 5 and substituting the following section:

"5. Election and Appointment of Members of Board—

(1) Not later than the 15th day of March 1990, and then within 3 months after each triennial general election held pursuant to the Local Elections and Polls Act 1976, those territorial authorities and other bodies referred to in section 3 (2) of this Act shall each appoint the appropriate person or persons to be members of the Board.

(2) Every member of the Board appointed under this section shall come into office on the day following that on which he or she is appointed."

267 CALCULATION OF LEVY

The Act is hereby further modified by deleting section 15 and substituting the following section:

"15. Calculation of levy—(1) For the purpose of apportioning levies the population of the district of each contributing authority shall be the population of that district as at the 31st day of March 1990, immediately preceding the previous financial year as certified by the Government Statistician whose certificate shall be conclusive evidence as to that population.

(2) The population computed as provided for in subsection (1) of this section shall be calculated as a percentage of the total population of the districts of all contributing authorities.

(3) The levy made in each financial year against each contributing authority shall be an amount equal to a percentage of the total levies payable by all the contributing authorities computed by multiplying the percentages of population of the district of each contributing authority, as calculated in subsection (2) of this section, by the relevant differential shown in the Schedule to this Act."

268 Schedule—The Act is hereby further modified by deleting the Schedule and substituting the following Schedule:
