Notice

Palmerston North College of Education Notice 1990

  1. (a) This notice may be cited as the Palmerston North College of Education Notice 1990.

(b) This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.

  1. There shall be a council to be known as the Palmerston North College of Education Council which shall govern the Palmerston North College of Education.

  2. The Palmerston North College of Education Council shall be constituted as follows:

(a) Four members appointed by the Minister of Education.

(b) The Chief Executive Officer of the Palmerston North College of Education.

(c) One permanent member of the academic staff of the Palmerston North College of Education elected by the permanent members of that staff.

(d) One permanent member of the general staff of the Palmerston North College of Education elected by the permanent members of that staff.

(e) One member who is or has been a student of the Palmerston North College of Education, who shall represent the students of the Palmerston North College of Education and who shall be appointed by the Executive of the Palmerston North College of Education Students’ Association.

(f) One member appointed by the Palmerston North College of Education Council after consultation with the central organisation of employers within the meaning of the Labour Relations Act 1987.

(g) One member appointed by the Palmerston North College of Education Council after consultation with the central organisation of workers within the meaning of the Labour Relations Act 1987.

(h) The Vice Chancellor of Massey University or his/her nominee.

(i) One person representing the Maori community appointed by the Rangitane as Tangata whenua.

(j) One person appointed by the Taranaki Regional Council.

(k) One person appointed by the Hawkes Bay Regional Council.

(l) One person appointed by the Wanganui/Manawatu Regional Council.

(m) One member appointed jointly by the New Zealand Education Institute, the New Zealand Post Primary Teachers Association and the Combined Early Childhood Union of Aotearoa.

(n) One member appointed jointly by the School Trustees Association and the Early Childhood Education employer groups in the central catchment region of the Palmerston North College of Education.

(o) Up to three members co-opted by the Council of the Palmerston North College of Education if and when it sees fit.

  1. The term of office of members of the council, vacation of office, disclosure of members’ interest and casual vacancies are covered in sections 173–176 of the Education Amendment Act 1990.

Subject to section 173, the maximum term for any member, other than the Chief Executive Officer, shall be two consecutive four year terms.

  1. The powers of the Palmerston North College of Education Council shall not be affected by vacancy in the membership thereof.

Wellington College of Education Notice 1990

Pursuant to section 168 of the Education Amendment Act 1990, the Minister of Education gives the following notice:

Notice

  1. (a) This notice may be cited as the Wellington College of Education, Te Whanau O Ako Pai Ki Te Upoko O Te Ika, Notice 1990.

(b) This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette.

  1. There shall be a council to be known as the Wellington College of Education Council which shall control the Wellington College of Education.

  2. The Wellington College of Education Council shall be constituted as follows:

(a) Four members appointed by the Minister of Education.

(b) The Chief Executive Officer of the Wellington College of Education.

(c) One permanent member of the academic staff of the Wellington College of Education elected by the permanent members of that staff.

(d) One permanent member of the general staff of the Wellington College of Education elected by the permanent members of that staff.

(e) One member who is or has been a student of the Wellington College of Education who shall represent the students of the Wellington College of Education and who shall be appointed by the Executive of the Wellington Trainees Association.

(f) One member appointed by the Wellington College of Education Council after consultation with the central organisation of employers within the meaning of the Labour Relations Act 1987.

(g) One member appointed by the Wellington College of Education Council after consultation with the central organisation of workers within the meaning of the Labour Relations Act 1987.

(h) One permanent member of the academic staff of the Wellington College of Education elected by the members of the Wellington branch of the Association of Staff in Tertiary Education.

(i) One member appointed by the Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University of Wellington.

(j) Two members representing the Maori community appointed by the Tangata Whenua of the Wellington area, one to be appointed by Ngati Toa and one by Te Atiawa.

(k) One member appointed by the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs after consultation with the Wellington Pacific Island communities.

(l) One member appointed jointly by the New Zealand Education Institute, the New Zealand Post Primary Teachers Association and the Combined Early Childhood Union of Aotearoa.

(m) One member appointed jointly by the School Trustees Association and Early Childhood Education employer groups in the Wellington area.

(n) One member co-opted by the Council if and when it sees fit.
