Notice of Result of Poll on Loan Proposal
Waikanae Loan Poll
Pursuant to section 38 of the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, notice is hereby given that a poll of electors of the Waikanae ward of the above-named local authority to raise a loan of $1.9 million for the purpose of purchasing land in Waikanae for all or any of the following purposes, namely sewage treatment and disposal drainage work, aforestation, farming, residential, commercial and/or industrial development, refuse disposal, roading, the development of reserves (including recreational facilities and civic purposes) and any other lawful purpose under the Local Government Act 1974, the Health Act 1956 and the Public Works Act 1981 as applicable, resulted as follows:
The number of votes recorded for the proposal 1 057
The number of votes recorded against the proposal 3 693
The number of informal votes 25
I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At Wellington this 15th day of October 1990
Present:
His Excellency THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.
Order
- (1) This order may be cited as the Eastland Rural Fire District Order 1990.
(2) This order shall come into force on the 28th day after its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.
- In this order, unless the context otherwise requires, the
“Act” means the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977;
the “Committee” means the Eastland Rural Fire Committee;
the “District” means the Eastland Rural Fire District.
Constitution of the Eastland Rural Fire District

The areas specified in the Schedule to this order are hereby constituted and declared to be a rural fire district to be known as the Eastland Rural Fire District.

The Eastland Rural Fire District shall, for the purposes of the Act, be administered by a rural fire committee which shall be known as the Eastland Rural Fire Committee.

The Committee shall consist of five members as follows:
(a) Two persons appointed by Hikurangi Forest Farms Limited by writing signed on behalf of that company by one director and the secretary thereof;
(b) One person appointed by P.F. Olsen and Company Limited by writing signed on behalf of that company by one director and the secretary thereof;
(c) One person appointed by the Director-General of the Department of Conservation; and
(d) One person appointed by the Chief Executive of the Gisborne District Council.

Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay Land Districts
Gisborne, Wairoa and Opotiki Districts—Eastland Rural Fire District
All those parcels containing 46 000 hectares, more or less, as shown marked A to Z inclusive on S.O. Plan 8439, lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Gisborne, and as the same on those plans numbered NRFA 101, deposited in the National Headquarters of the New Zealand Fire Service Commission at Wellington.
