Broadcasting Standards Authority—Decision No. 15 and 16

Pursuant to section 15 (1) of the Broadcasting Act 1989, notice is hereby given that the Broadcasting Standards Authority has made the following decisions on complaints referred to it for investigation and review:

(i) In decision No. 15/90, the authority upheld a complaint by Dr Brian Perry of Auckland that the broadcast by TVNZ Ltd. of an item on the Holmes programme breached the responsibility placed on broadcasters to deal justly and fairly with any person taking part in a programme and to show balance, impartiality and fairness in dealing with political matters, current affairs and questions of a controversial nature.

(ii) In decision No. 16/90, the authority upheld a complaint by the Hon. Richard Prebble, M.P. of Auckland that the broadcast by TVNZ Ltd of an item on the Holmes programme breached the responsibility placed on broadcasters, when discussing controversial issues of public importance, to make reasonable efforts or give reasonable opportunities to present significant points of view either in the same programme or in other programmes within the period of current interest.

Approval to Act as Statutory Supervisor

Pursuant to the Securities Act 1978, the Securities Commission gives the following notice:

Prince and Partners Trustee Company Limited (formerly named Prince Black Trustee Company for Limited) is approved to act as statutory supervisor for the purposes of the Securities Act 1978, such approval was first published in the Gazette on 22 August 1985.

Pursuant to the Securities Act 1978, notice is given that the Securities Commission has approved John Huntsbury Midgley, chartered accountant of Christchurch

to act as statutory supervisor for the purposes of the Securities Act 1978, for a period of 5 years from the date of this notice, in respect of participatory securities of which the Social Services Council of the Diocese of Christchurch is the issuer.

Conservation

Conservation Act 1987

Declaring Land to be Held for Conservation Purposes

Pursuant to section 7 (1) of the Conservation Act 1987, the Minister of Conservation and the Minister of Forestry, being the Minister deemed responsible for the Department of State that has control of the land described in the Schedule hereto; jointly declare that the land is held for conservation purposes.

Schedule

Nelson Land District—Tasman District

51,7998 hectares, more or less, being State Forest land, situated in Blocks II and III, Matakitaki Survey District. Part of New Zealand Gazette, 1938, page 2395 (128 acres).
